Trees below Logable Size in Solomon Islands

Solomon Islands today is suffering of increasing unlog-gable trees in her forests that once called richest and one among most virgin forest in the world.

last year assessment carried under the Ministry of forestry and the Natural resources found out that about 75% of the Forest in Solomon Islands are secondary forest.Not only logging industry blamed for this but subsistence farming as well report said.

The Survey shows Malaita, Makiara,Guadalcanal and the Western Province in Solomon are worse to be affected.

Due to an increasing logging operation in these provinces for last 10 years loggable trees pronounce Finished.

Logging operation in Solomon Islands now are harvesting un-loggable size tress most times.

But the survey foynd out the Solomon Islands Government has reluctant to monitor many logging companies which sometimes under-table deals were taking place with Senior Governent officials.
